The song as explained from lyricist’s perspective. This devotional and philosophical Qawwali song has dealt with three different philosophical aspects of life like understanding the very idea of the God, about Love with its’ broader meaning and about the role of a Saint as an agent of God. The perspective sung by talented singer like Shahid Mallya makes it very intense, effective, interesting, enjoyable and devotionally thought-provoking. Enjoy it while you fully understand and appreciate the metaphors used in every couplet explained in detail here along with meanings of difficult words. 1. दिल-सिताँ है ख़ुदा, दिल-सिताँ ही ख़ुदा, क्या हवा, क्या फ़ज़ा, है गुलिस्ताँ ख़ुदा, क्या ग़मी, क्या ख़ुशी, हर शय में है ख़ुदा, तू ही तू है यहाँ, ज़ीस्त हो या क़ज़ा, dil-sitaa.n hai KHudaa, dil-sitaa.n hii KHudaa, kyaa havaa, kyaa fazaa, hai gulistaa.n KHudaa, kyaa Gamii, kyaa KHushii, har shai me.n hai KHudaa, tuu hii tuu hai yahaa.n, ziist ho yaa qazaa, दिल-सिताँ - beloved फ़ज़ा – environment, ambience गुलिस्ताँ - garden ग़मी - mourning शय - things ज़ीस्त - life क़ज़ा - death It says the Almighty is my beloved and my beloved is for me, my God. Also, the beauty that we see around us in the universe is also a result of this force called love and love is like soaking in the ocean of the God. Essentially, love is God and his Godliness. Also, every thing and every heart is filled with love. 3. मेरे सर का है सदका, ये सज्दा मेरा, क्या करुँ और तू ही बता ऐ वली, हो 'इनायत तेरी तो ऐ मेरे ख़ुदा, हो ये दोज़ख़ भी जैसे कि जन्नत मेरी, तू ही ख़्वाजा मेरा, तेरी रहमत 'अली, ये ही ख़्वाहिश है, दिल में जो मेरे पली, mere sar kaa hai, sadqaa ye sajdaa meraa, kyaa karuu.n aur tuu hii bataa aai valii, ho 'inaayat terii, to aai mere KHudaa, ho ye dozaKH bhii, jaise kii jannat merii, tuu hii KHvaaja meraa, terii rahmat 'alii, ye hii KHvaahish hai, dil me.n jo mere palii, सदक़ा – a sacrifice, devotion, alms dedicated to pious use सज्दा – prayers 'इनायत – kindness, courtesy दोज़ख़ – hell जन्नत – paradise ख़्वाजा – saint रहमत – kindness 'अली – Hazrat Ali These lines has a dialogue with the Saint who acts as an agent of God for everyone and connects everyone to the Almighty. He further addresses the Saint as his God and says, if he receives the Saint’s kindness, for him even hell like life becomes paradise. He devotionally further states that, hey Saint, you are my agent of God and your kindness towards me is Hazrat Ali himself for me. Getting your kindness is my the only desire flourishing in my heart. 4. गर वो कह दें हमें, माने उस को ख़ुदा, आबशार-ए-नज़र काश वो हो इधर, 'इश्क़ ही है वली, है ख़ुदा-साज़ 'इश्क़, 'इश्क़ ना हो, ना तू, ना जहाँ, मैं ना वो, 'इश्क़ की मिट्टी तन, 'इश्क़ की मिट्टी मन, 'इश्क़ दीवानगी, 'इश्क़ हाजी 'अली, आबशार-ए-नज़र - waterfall of benevolent sight वली - saint ख़ुदा-साज़ - God gift हाजी 'अली - a sufi saint gar vo kah de.n hame.n, maane usko KHudaa, aabshaar-e-nazar, kaash vo ho idhar, 'ishq hii hai valii, hai KHudaa-saaz 'ishq, 'ishq naa ho, naa tuu, naa jahaa.n, mai.n naa vo, 'ishq kii miTTii tan, 'ishq kii miTTii man, 'ishq diivaangii, 'ishq haajii 'alii, The devotee now romantically states that if she wishes, he can address her as God as his beloved is like God for him. The devotee says love is like Saint and God-gift and further asserts that if there is no love, there is no one, there is no universe and there is no himself and no God. Our body and mind are all made up of love and that love is madness of loving and love is the Sufi Saint. 5. या 'अली 'अली, या 'अली 'अली, ओ ओ वली, दम 'अली 'अली, बाग़बान-ए-अज़ल, 'इश्क़ नूर-ए-ख़ुदा, वर्ना तारीक है, हर जगह हर तरफ़, आया हूँ इसलिए, तेरे दरबार में, शान मुमताज़ तेरी ओ मेरे वली, नूर की एक भी बूँद दे दे हमें, पाए फैज़-ए-सुकूँ, जी ते जी, मर के भी, सर झुकाया है ये, 'इश्क़ मेरी दुआ, 'इश्क़ ने'मत मेरी, 'इश्क़ है आबरू, 'इश्क़ है दिल-सिताँ, 'इश्क़ ही दिल-सिताँ, yaa 'alii 'alii, yaa 'alii 'alii, o o valii, dam 'alii 'alii, baaGbaan-e-azal, 'ishq nuur-e-KHudaa, varnaa taariik hai, har jagah, har taraf, aayaa huu.n is liye tere darbaar me.n, shaan mumtaaz terii, o mere valii, nuur kii ek bhii buu.nd de de hame.n, pae.n faiz-e-sukuu.n, jii te jii, mar ke bhii, sar jhukaayaa hai ye, 'ishq merii du'aa, 'ishq ne'mat merii, 'ishq hai aabruu, 'ishq hai dil-sitaa.n, 'ishq hii dil-sitaa.n, या 'अली 'अली - chanting ओ ओ वली, दम 'अली 'अली – hey Saint, God be in my soul chanting बाग़बान-ए-अज़ल – God नूर-ए-ख़ुदा – light emitted by God तारीक - darkness मुमताज़ - distinguished फैज़-ए-सुकूँ - bounty of peace ने'मत – gift आबरू – reputation and my glory In this concluding section, there is a lot of chanting intertwined with philosophical teachings and assertions along with a dialogue with the Saint happening in a highly devotional manner. It says if there is no God or his brilliance called love, it will be all darkness everywhere and always. So, hey Saint, that is why I have come to your holy place to see your distinguished glory. If you offer me even a drop of your brilliance, I will be blessed with bounty of peace during my life and after. I bow in front of you and love is what I offer as my prayers.
