The song as explained from lyricist’s perspective. This Ghazal is a beautiful narrative of memories of unrequited love and the intense feeling of the guy that, everything and everyone that he comes across, falls short of the elegance, beauty and virtues that she possessed. Also, the deeply meaningful lyrics, by Mahendra Dhirajlal Kamdar, metaphorically weaves some basic truths of life alongside the tale of unrequited love. The song has the grandeur of Music composed by Shahab Hussain and produced-arranged by Prasanna Suresh especially Carnatic style live violin among other instruments. The hook line captures the essence of the intense feeling of admiration and love he holds in his heart for his beloved making him feel there is nothing and no one like her and nothing has that charm like her. It is sure to transport you to a spell of nostalgia with a feeling of smell of someone you deeply loved, profusely admired sometime in your life. 1. आरज़ू की 'इशरत में जो लज़्ज़त थी, वो मंज़िलों में कहाँ, मौसम-ए-हिज्राँ में जो रंगीनियाँ थीं, वो महफ़िलों में कहाँ, 'इशरत - enjoyment, mirth, pleasure, comfort, joy, happiness, delight मौसम-ए-हिज्राँ – Time of Separation aarzuu kii 'ishrat me.n jo lazzat thii, vo manzilo.n me.n kahaa.n, mausam-e-hijraa.n me.n jo ra.ngiiniyaa.n thii.n, vo mahfilo.n me.n kahaa.n, Under the disguise of love tale telling, what a striking reality of life has been metaphorically captured here. Often, the flavour, the taste, that we feel in the enjoyment of yearning for something or someone, is far superior to the feeling we undergo when we actually get it or achieve what we yearned for. The metaphoric comparison that the beauty and elegance of colours of autumn foliage far exceeds the glamour and glitter of parties. 2. वादियों में हम तो ढूँडते रहें, कुछ नई बहारों को, बाद-ए-सबा जो तुझे छू कर गुज़री, वो ख़ुशबूओं में कहाँ, बाद-ए-सबा – Morning Breeze vaadiyo.n me.n ham to Dhuu.nDte rahe.n, kuchh na.ii bahaaro.n ko, baad-e-sabaa jo tujhe chhuu kar guzrii, vo KHushbuu.o.n me.n kahaa.n, What an imaginatively profuse admiration for his beloved by a love-struck guy. After losing her, he kept on searching for someone in the woods metaphorically comparing that someone special as blooming nature. Alas! that someone still couldn’t match her ever. The fragrance that the morning breeze scattered after it used to touch pass his beloved is not found in the best of the scents of nature anymore. 3. अंदाज़-ए-'आशिक़ाना रहा फ़रीद, और आश्ना के लिए, पर ला'लीं जो तेरे गालों में है, वो इन गुलों में कहाँ, अंदाज़-ए-'आशिक़ाना - fascinating manners of loving someone फ़रीद - matchless आश्ना - acquaintance, love andaaz-e-'aashiqaana rahaa fariid, aur aashnaa ke liye, par laa'liin jo tere gaalo.n me.n hai, vo in gulo.n me.n kahaa.n, The guy says his style of loving is matchless and has been trying to find out fresh love in someone sometime since he separated. But, unfortunately, he could not find her match so far. Beautiful redness of her cheeks is not found even in the colours of petals of best of the flowers. 4. अँधेरे जो तेरी ज़ुल्फ़ों से पाएँ, वो ग़म के सायों में कहाँ, तल्ख़ियाँ जो ज़िंदगी से पायी, वो कोई ज़हरों में कहाँ, तल्ख़ियाँ – bitternesses a.ndhere jo terii zulfo.n se paa.e.n, vo Gam ke saayo.n me.n kahaa.n, talKHiyaa.n jo zindagii se paa.ii, vo ko.ii zahro.n me.n kahaa.n, The lovelorn guy turns philosophical now with these two deeply meaningful lines. He metaphorically compares the shadow, the darkness below locks of her hairs with darkness of sorrows of life and finds them being less dark than the sorrow that arose from loving locks of her beautiful hair. The various bitterness arising out of life of separation from her are far bitter then the fatal bitterness of any poisons found in the nature. 5. वैसे तो तेरे जहाँ में मिलें, बहारों के कारवाँ बहुत, लचक जो तेरे बदन में है, वो फूलों की डालियों में कहाँ, कारवाँ - caravan, group of people travelling together vaise to tere jahaa.n me.n mile.n, bahaaro.n ke kaarvaa.n bahut, lachak jo tere badan me.n hai, vo phuulo.n kii Daaliyo.n me.n kahaa.n, As if telling her, he says he kept coming across in her world, various beauties of the mother nature in the form of blooming flora-n-fauna but the elasticity, delicacy and suppleness of her body could not be found even in the stylishly bending, tender twigs carrying buds. The song thus comes to a charmingly calming and stylishly sung end line by the talented Arhaan Hussain and leaves you with a pure, haunting melody sending you to nostalgia.
